Room In The Inn (RITI) is an opportunity for us to live out God’s word. The two greatest commands are to “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” ^{Matthew 22:37-39}. Throughout the scriptures we are instructed to help others less fortunate than ourselves. This is an opportunity for us to “not merely listen to the word and so deceive ourselves”, but to “Do what it says” ^{James 1:22}, and “to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God” ^{Romans 12:1}.

What do we do? We provide twenty-four homeless men a place to spend the night one night a week between November 1^st and March 31^st. We provide them dinner, a light breakfast, and a sack lunch as well as showing them God’s love. Many of these men have jobs and are trying to save enough money to get an apartment.

What do I get out of it? Much more than you put in. You got it figured out that this is something God wants us to do, but there is more. You meet your fellow brothers and sisters; you work with them hand in hand on a worthy project. This is a opportunity to really get to know them. How many times have you heard someone say “I have been coming years and don’t really know anyone. Everyone is cliquish.” Things are what we make them. If we don’t get involved, we will never feel a part of the body.
